Pastor Dave Duncan

Senior Pastor

Pastor Dave Duncan was raised as a missionary kid in the Marshall Islands (South Pacific).  His love of ministering to others has never waned.  Formerly an Assistant Pastor at First Assembly of God in Kenosha, WI (now Journey Church), he sees as his calling as sharing Christ’s love with everyone he encounters.  As he says, “We will never lock eyes with someone Christ did not die for.”  He has been Senior Pastor of Church in the City since January 2000, and believes this to be the most authentic and loving collection of people he could have the privilege of shepherding.  Pastor Dave graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, MO (BA), Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (MDiv), and has nearly completed his Doctorate of Ministry at Trinity.  He also teaches as an adjunct professor at Carthage College in Kenosha.  He and his wife, Annette, have seven children and four grandchildren.

Pastor Heather Lopez

Children's Pastor

Heather Lopez was born right here at home, in Milwaukee, WI. She attended what was then Brookfield Assembly of God with Pastor Samuel Peterson. Heather was a part of that church from the time she was born until she left for college in 1997. During that time she helped with the children since she was a child herself. She attended youth group and went on different missions trips ministering to children through clowning, puppets, stories, songs and teaching the Word of God. She has ministered in many locations including the inter-city of Milwaukee, Ukraine, Russia and England.

In 1997, Heather left for North Central University in Minneapolis, MN. In May of 2001, Heather graduated North Central University with a Children’s Ministry Major. She also received her Pastoral license through the Assemblies of God. She then moved to Kenosha, WI where she took her first Children’s Pastor position at Prayer House Assembly of God for just under two years. In October of 2001, she married her husband, Fermin, whom she had met years earlier during college.

In June of 2003, the Lord led Heather and her husband to Church in the City through a friend of Pastor David Duncan’s.

Fermin currently works as a kitchen manager at Carson’s Ribs in Deerfield, IL. Heather also works at SCJ Childcare, where she teaches children age two. Heather gave birth to her first son, Adrian in 2004, her second son, Gabriel in 2006 and her youngest son in 2009. She is also blessed with a wonderful step-son, Anthony, who is now 16 years old. Having three boys is a lot of work, but is a lot of fun. Fermin and Heather currently live in Racine, WI.

Marcia Hall

Administrative Assistant
E-mail Marcia Hall

Hi, Marcia Hall here, CITC Administrative Assistant. I have been attending CITC for almost 18 years. Eight years ago, I met and married my husband Scott here at church. We now have 2 amazing daughters and one foster son. I have served CITC in the Children’s Ministry, Multimedia Ministry and Leadership Team among many other areas. This church has celebrated some very happy times and also seen me though some very low points in my life. I continue to come back to worship at this church because I have built strong and lasting relationships with the people here. Pastor Dave is genuine and whole hardheartedly wants everyone he meets to understand the love of Christ just a little bit more.
In addition to being the part time Administrative Assistant at CITC and a mom, I am also a Family Coach helping parents and caregivers all over the country understand and care for their children.

Stephanie Zakroczymski

Financial Assistant

I have been attending Church in the City since 2002.  My husband David and I travel from Illinois to Church in the City because of Pastor Dave and Annette and the welcoming church body are just a great fit for us.  We feel the presence of God and the Holy Spirit in the sanctuary.  Pastor convicts us and encourages us to go deeper with God and grow.

It is my feeling that my church is also my family and that when I am hurting, my church family bears my burdens along with me. When my GOD stretches me, I grow in Christ with my church family and GOD. I pray my church family believes and feels the same way when they are in need or just in communion with them.

I am a wife of a wonderful Christian man, the mother of three beautiful children, and a grandmother of two beautiful twin grandchildren. I have served on the Leadership Team  for GOD at Church in the City for six years and volunteer for the TLC and Hospitality Ministries. I am a financial admin and office Manager for a local company. As a retired Chef, my hobby now is food and cooking. I love to create with food.

Josh Duncan

Custodial

Hey! I’m Josh Duncan, and I have been attending Church in the City for the past 15 years, since January 2000.  I have officially been a member of the CITC staff as a janitor for the past two years, starting in the summer of 2012, though I occasionally served as a substitute-custodian when needed for roughly the past decade.

I feel God has called me to this position for many reasons, but I believe primary among these would be to teach me that service, in whatever capacity it may be, should always be done with a spirit of humility and grace. Service can be a burden or a gift—perfunctory duty to man or service rendered to the Lord (Col. 3:23).

I am originally from Kenosha, WI. I have four sisters and two brothers. I attend Carthage College, where I am majoring in History with minors in Secondary Education and French. If I were trapped on a deserted island, what book/series (etc.) would I hope I had with me? Let’s just assume the Bible is in my heart, so I would probably have to go with the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.  Is there a better way to get away than by escaping to Middle Earth?

Kalia Duncan

Custodial

Kalia Duncan has attended Church in the City for fifteen years. She has been part of the Nursery Ministry for six and half years and has been on staff in the Janitorial Ministry for over two years. Kalia felt drawn to working in the Nursery because of her heart for children and the joy it brought her watching children grow up in the same loving, Christ-centered environment that she experienced as a child at Church in the City. Coming on staff as a Janitor was a humbling and eye-opening experience for her. It has been a wonderful opportunity to give back to Church in the City through fulfilling and hard work. Kalia is a sophomore at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin and is studying to become a high school gym and history teacher.

Bob Busateri

Leadership Team Elder

A tax accountant by trade, I first attended CITC while I was visiting Milwaukee from Texas in the summer of 2000. I loved the sweet presence of God that I felt there. After attending CITC on a part time basis for 8 years I moved to Milwaukee in the spring of 2008 and was glad that I didn’t have to search for a church home. CITC has been a place for me where I’ve been able to grow, mature, and develop in my walk with God. I’ve been so richly blessed to have Pastor Dave as my spiritual covering. He is truly an anointed man of God and a great shepherd for our church.

Annette Duncan

Leadership Team Elder

Annette Duncan has served at Church in the City with her husband Pastor Dave Duncan and their seven children since January 2, 2000.  She is a college professor, having taught English since 1988 at Carthage College in Kenosha. Her outside interests include theatre and other performance, and she is the choreographer for Christian Life High School Show Choir and is a member of the Board of Acacia Theatre. She does editing for the Assemblies of God organization Africa’s Hope. She has also been a speaker at conferences nationally, and is a former Mrs. Wisconsin. At CITC she has served on the Leadership Team for more than a decade, as well as ministering in such ways as leading worship and teaching Bible studies. Annette considers it a privilege and blessing from God to be called to the vision and the people of CITC, people she considers to be some of the most genuine and Christ-filled that can be found.

Sally Korb

Leadership Team Elder

I’ve been going to CITC for 13 years. My husband Sam and I started going when we were first married and fell in love with the people and of course feel inspired by Pastor Dave.  We were quickly absorbed into this new family learning that if you don’t fit in at a typical church, CITC is the place to be. Sam and I have two great boys and I work as a physical therapist where I see healing through my hands and spirit all the time!

Jim Wacholz

Leadership Team Elder

My wife Lora and I have been going to CITC for almost two years.
We attend CITC because we believe that God has called us here.  Also, we continue to attend becuase the teaching and the people are great!
Lora and I have been happily married for over 18 years. We enjoy spending time with family, friends and God’s people.

Rosa Khongmuang – Secretary

Leadership Team Deacon

Hello my name is Rosa Khongmuang and I am new to the Leadership Team. My husband Suwit and I have been attending Church in the City for approximately 4 years. Previous to coming to Church in the City, we had been searching for a home church. By a chance encounter in the park my husband met Benjean Lara and he invited us to their Diaper Devotional. We attended that group meeting and were invited to attend church. We did with the intent if our children enjoyed Sunday school then we would consider staying. Needless to say they did and the rest is history!

We have enjoyed learning the Word of God under the leadership of Pastor Dave Duncan. He has been a great Pastor who truly cares about his church members and has challenged us to draw nearer to God. It is because of this, I believe it is why I have been chosen at this time.

The people of Church in the City are like family and we have never felt out of place or unwelcome. I enjoy volunteering in the Preschool once a month and also enjoy serving our church body during various Holiday luncheons. I accept the challenges of serving our church family and hope to do my best for God’s kingdom.
